Oh, hello there. I haven’t decided what text belongs here yet.

Congress, what the fuck?

Congress, what the fuck?

This take isn’t hot or fresh or really important in the grand scheme of everything that’s already been said, but, what happened today was a fucking tragedy.

Brett Kavanaugh is not a great man, a genius or anything even closely resembling a decent human being. He is the epitome of every angry drunk any of us has ever encountered. He is someone who feigns pain that was supposedly brought upon him by a grand conspiracy carried out by the Democrats. He is an emotionally unstable, developmentally stunted teenage boy.

I know this line has been said so many times but repetition is sometimes necessary when we fail to learn a lesson.

Kavanaugh is that way because he never had to be anything else. His life has been lived on rails; his wealth, whiteness and manhood have all coalesced into the momentum of privilege — privilege he never hesitated to take full advantage of.

Last Thursday, Dr. Blasey Ford relived the worst day of her life in front of the eyes of the American Public. She did so with grace, poise and an immeasurable level of restraint — restraint I don’t know I would be able to show if I were in the same situation. I know this line has been said so many times but repetition is sometimes necessary when we fail to learn a lesson.

That lesson is this: as a nation, we just witnessed one of the most galling public defenses of an unwounded patriarchy. The display made by Kavanaugh; blustering, rage-filled, crocodile-tear-laden bullshit was a playback of behavior one can expect from the volatility of an addict. The responses to many questions directed towards him from senators cemented the image of him as a 14-year-old-boy.

“How much do consider to be too many beers?”

“I don’t know, whatever the chart says.”

“So you’re saying there’s never been a case where you’ve drank so much that you didn’t remember what happened the night before, or part of what happened?”

“You’re asking about black out? Have you? I’m curious if you have?”

This is who Republicans have thrown all of their weight behind. But, it’s not the first time Kavanaugh and the party that backs him has forced themselves on us despite our best protests.

This is who our leaders have elected to the highest court in the land. When testifying in an attempt to show congress and the American People that he is a person of strong moral character who did not assault Dr. Ford, his responses when pressed with certain questions was “I don’t know, have you?”

This is who now has a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court. This is who will be at the table shaping the future of how laws in our country are interpreted. This is who Republicans have thrown all of their weight behind. But, it’s not the first time Kavanaugh and the party that backs him has forced themselves on us despite our best protests.

Republicans, I hope you’re fucking proud of yourselves. Democrats, especially those in the senate who voted for the confirmation, I hope the shit example you’ve set for this party riles up some younger, angrier, candidates to clean up the mess you’ve made.

Register to vote, and fucking show up. This is too important to fail. Then again, maybe it’s about time to just burn the whole thing down. 🔥
